Two Mabe pearls each measure 16mm, accented with an estimated 0.60 carats of diamonds (estimated at H-I color and SI2 clarity). The sapphires total an estimated 1.20 carats and the rubies total an estimated 1 carat. The gemstones are in excellent condition and free of cracks or chips.
With the launch of the US Space program in the 1960s jewelry design went mad for all things outta space. The style was popular during the Mid 20th century with a resemblance to the Russian space satellite 'Sputnik' that was launched in 1957. The red, white and blue gemstones are a likely patriotic tribute to the US space program. The earrings are fitted with clip on backings for non-pierced of pierced ears.
